PREAMBLE
Chapter Al-Humazah (104)
We have inherited a commonplace translation of this Chapter too which, by suggesting some unidentifiable characters in an abstract way, tries to protect a particular segment of society from being exposed as God’s direct target of wrath and sentence whom God has categorically condemned. This is a part of the organized distortion campaign against the Quran’s philosophy which is now
exposed hereunder.
Since God is issuing His injunctions explicitly against society’s arrogant capitalist despots in a purely class paradigm, therefore, this Chapter represents a universal truth in its beautiful literary style of narration. Hence, instead of sidetracking the target class of the Quran’s severe admonition, effort is made to present this strict and pure translation in keeping with the true essence and in the real direction of the Quran’s verdict, without resorting to the addition of a single word from an external source. Please study it in comparison with its old traditional translations and enlighten your hearts and minds with the light of the Quran’s great noble values and goals.
وَيْلٌ لِّكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُّمَزَةٍ ﴿١﴾ الَّذِي جَمَعَ مَالًا وَعَدَّدَهُ ﴿٢﴾ يَحْسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُ أَخْلَدَهُ ﴿٣﴾ كَلَّا ۖ لَيُنبَذَنَّ فِي الْحُطَمَةِ ﴿٤﴾ وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْحُطَمَةُ ﴿٥﴾ نَارُ اللَّـهِ الْمُوقَدَةُ ﴿٦﴾ الَّتِي تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى الْأَفْئِدَةِ ﴿٧﴾إِنَّهَا عَلَيْهِم مُّؤْصَدَةٌ ﴿٨﴾ فِي عَمَدٍ مُّمَدَّدَةٍ ﴿٩﴾
Transliteration: “Wayilun li-kulli humazatin lumazatin; allazi jama’a maalan wa ‘addada-hu; yahsubu an maala-hu akhlada-hu. Kalla. La-yumbazanna fi al-hutamah; Wa maa adrakka maa al-Hutamah; Naarullahi al-mu’qadah; allati tattali’u ‘ala al-af’idah; Inna-ha ‘alyi-him mu’sadah; fi ‘amadin mumaddadah.”
A specimen of traditional Translations:
“WOE unto every slanderer, fault-finder! [Woe unto him who amasses wealth and counts it a safeguard, thinking that his wealth will make him live forever! Nay, but [in the life to come such as] he shall indeed be abandoned to crushing torment! And what could make thee conceive what that crushing torment will be A fire kindled by God, which will rise over the [guilty] hearts: verily, it will close in upon them in endless columns!”
The latest academic and rational Translation:
104:1-9 Punishable is every one of that contemptuous capitalist class who is involved in slandering, vilification and blaming the ordinary folks, and who has amassed fortunes and keep growing it further. They presume that their wealth would grant their arrogance infinity. It never happens that way. They would definitely be cast into a fire that suppresses all rage and fury. And what awareness you have of that suppressing torment? That’s a fire raised by God which targets and burns minds and consciousness (al-af’idah – الافئدۃ). That fire is going to burn that class of people perpetually (Mosadah – موصدۃ) , in a lofty closed structure (prison) spread over long distances (‘amadin mumaddadah – عمد ممددۃ ).
Ayn-Miim-Dal = to intend, support, place columns or pillars, place lofty structure, prop up, resolve, aim, direct, propose, commit (a sin intentionally), lofty structure, tent, pole, base, chief.
Miim-Dal-Dal = to draw a thing (namely a rope), pull a thing, stretch a thing, strain a thing, extend by drawing or pulling, stretch forth, to prolong, expand/elongate/lengthen a thing, spread or spread out, delay or defer a thing, continue a thing, to help or aid someone, to advance, to increase, to supply ink (put ink into a thing), apply ink to a thing, manure land (with dung).
Chapter Al-‘Asr (103)

وَالْعَصْرِ ﴿١﴾ إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ لَفِي خُسْرٍ ﴿٢﴾ إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ ﴿٣﴾
Transliteration: “Wal’asri, innal insaana la-fi khusrin; illa allazina aamanu wa ‘amiloo as-saalihaati, wa tawaasaw bil-haqqi wa tawaasaw bis-sabr.”
A specimen of traditional Translation:
“CONSIDER the flight of time! Verily, man is bound to lose himself unless he be of those who attain to faith, and do good works, and enjoin upon one another the keeping to truth, and enjoin upon one another patience in adversity.” (Asad)
The latest academic and rational Translation:
103:1-3 “The past chapters of history testify to the fact that the mankind has in general been made the target of deception and suffering; except in those communities which followed the path of peace and faith and pursued reformative and constructive policies and enjoined the conduct of truthfulness, patience and steadfastness.”

اس سورت کا بھی ہمیں ایک عامیانہ ترجمہ ورثے میں ملا ہے جو کسی نشاندہی کے بغیر نامعلوم اشخاص کی جانب ایک تجریدی انداز میں اشارہ کرتے ہوئے معاشرے کے ایک خاص مقتدر طبقےکو، جسے اللہ تعالیٰ نے یہاں کھلے الفاظ میں رُسوا کیا ہے، اللہ کی لعنت و سزا سے بچانے کی کوشش کرتا ہے۔ یہ روایتی ترجمہ قرآن کو مسخ کرنے کی قدیمی اموی بادشاہت کی مذموم مہم کا ہی ایک حصہ ہے، جس کی اب ذیل میں درست ترجمے کے ذریعے نشاندہی کر دی گئی ہے۔
قرآن کیونکہ اپنے احکامات واضح طور پر خالص طبقاتی پیراڈائم میں معاشرے کے سرمایہ دار مغرور طبقات کے خلاف صادر کررہا ہے اس لیے یہ سورۃ قرآن کے خوبصورت ادبی اسلوب میں ایک عالمی سچائی کو پیش کر رہی ہے۔ فلہٰذا، قرآن کی سخت تنبیہ کا ہدف بنائے گئے طبقے کی حقیقت کو چھپانے کی بجائے ایک جدید ترین کاوش کے ذریعے قرآنی فیصلے کو قرآنی متن کی روح کے عین مطابق ، بغیر کسی ایک خارجی لفظ کے اضافے کے ساتھ، پیش کرنے کی کوشش کی گئی ہے۔ اسے قدیمی طرز کے روایتی ترجمے کے تقابل کے ساتھ ملاحظہ فرمائیں اور قرآن کے عظیم اہداف و اقدار سے قلب و ذہن کو روشن کریں۔

"تباہی ہے ہر اُس شخص کے لیے جو (منہ در منہ) لوگوں پر طعن اور (پیٹھ پیچھے) برائیاں کرنے کا خوگر ہے جس نے مال جمع کیا اور اُسے گن گن کر رکھا وہ سمجھتا ہے کہ اُس کا مال ہمیشہ اُس کے پاس رہے گا۔ ہرگز نہیں، وہ شخص تو چکنا چور کر دینے والی جگہ میں پھینک دیا جائے گا۔ اور تم کیا جانو کہ کیا ہے وہ چکنا چور کر دینے والی جگہ؟ اللہ کی آگ، خوب بھڑکائی ہوئی۔ جو دلوں تک پہنچے گی۔ وہ اُن پر ڈھانک کر بند کر دی جائے گی۔ [اِس حالت میں کہ وہ] اونچے اونچے ستونوں میں [گھرے ہوئے ہوں گے]"۔ [مودودی]

سزا کے حقدار ہیں عام لوگوں کو طعن، تشنیع، تذلیل اور الزام تراشی کا نشانہ بنانے والے وہ تمام سرمایہ دارمغرورطبقات جنہوں نے دولت اکٹھی کر لی اور اسے بڑھانے کی تدبیریں کرتے رہے ۔ ایسے لوگ یہ خیال کرتے ہیں کہ ان کا مال ان کے تکبر کو ہمیشگی عطا کر دے گا۔ ایسا ہرگز نہیں ہوا کرتا۔ وہ تو لازمی طور پر غیض و غضب کو کچل دینے والی آگ [ الحطمۃ] میں پھینک دیے جائیں گے ۔ اور تمہیں کیا ادراک ہے کہ غیض و غضب کو توڑ دینے والی وہ آگ کیا ہے؟ یہ وہ آگ ہے جو اللہ کی بھڑکائی ہوئی [الموقدۃ] ہے جو ذہنوں اور شعور[الافئدۃ] تک پہنچ کر[تطلعُ] انہیں بھسم کردیتی ہے ۔ یقینا یہ آگ اس طبقے کے لوگوں پر مستقل قائم رہنے والی [موصدۃ] ہے، ایک ایسی بلند عمارت [یا بند قید خانے] میں [عمد] جسے طویل فاصلوں تک پھیلا دیا گیا ہے [ممددۃ]۔
سورۃ العصر [103]
ذیل میں اس سورۃ کی ایک زیادہ واضح اور درست صورت پیش کرنے والا ترجمہ کرنے کی کوشش کی گئی ہے۔ براہ مہربانی اسے روایتی ترجمے کے موازنے کے ساتھ مطالعہ فرمائیں جس کی کاپی پیسٹ کر دی گئی ہے۔
وَالْعَصْرِ ﴿١﴾ إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ لَفِي خُسْرٍ ﴿٢﴾ إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ ﴿٣﴾

"سابقہ تاریخی ادوار اس بات کے گواہ ہیں کہ درحقیقت عام انسان عمومی طور پر دھوکے اور مصائب کا شکار بنایا جاتا رہا ہے۔ سوائے اُن معاشروں کے جنہوں نے امن و ایمان کی راہ اختیار کی اور اصلاحی و تعمیری طرزِ عمل پر چل پڑے اور سچائی اور صبر و استقامت کے چلن کی تلقین و تاکید کرتے رہے۔"
